Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

    Junior Achievement
Beginning in January 2012, I became involved with Junior Achievement as the result of a New Year's resolution to do something special for disadvantaged youth. Teaching the success skills program at the alternative school the director of JA set me up with has been one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had - and I've only done one class at the time I'm writing this! JA will be an organization I'll be involved with for quite awhile.

I met Carlton Cartwright, the founder of TCCI, after picking their organization as the beneficiary of a cash and toy drive I promoted at My Gym RPB. Carlton has such fervor, and I was so fascinated by him. During our initial meeting at his office, he actually dropped the paperwork he was organizing, pulled down his glasses, and asked me point blank: "Who do you work for? The state or something?" I was invited to join the Board of Directors not long after that, a position I hold to this day.
